A ritual reset and a call for contributions
or: I am suffering near total writers block and could use some prompts
Hello! Landon here, with the once-a-year post to this newsletter that lurks about in my psyche, ruining what little chance at peace I seek to have. I’ve decided upon a format for this thing and it’ll require a little bit of a ritual reset.
I have a small request for those of you who subscribe — send me an email of a problem you have. Tell people to submit their ideas and commentary and spicy takes.
Have people know that this newsletter exists, and that it’s a little different than most. That’s my request. Just tell people about this experiment of mine, and if you feel up for it, submit something for me to talk about and expand upon.
It can be anything you’d like! Lets talk about code, programming, algorithms, but lets also talk about how to build better teams, how to handle conflict in ways rooted in empathy. Lets talk about the differences between Push and Pull based management techniques and when each one is necessary.
Lets talk about the realities of remote work, of mental health, and loneliness. Lets talk about how uncertain it feels to work full time anymore. Lets lift each other up somehow.
Have some interest in a news story and don’t feel like punting your hot take into the outrage factory? Send me your take and lets have a discussion about it — maybe we’ll record a podcast episode here on substack about that if we find some shared interest.
Most newsletters I’ve subscribed to or have been linked to are of a format, and I’d like to shake up that format and focus on user submission and audience interaction.
Let’s have a little fun with it, shall we? Send your submissions to thock@substack.com and i’ll include whatever i’m able in monday’s newsletter.
I might respond to your email directly for clarification or other purposes, but outside of the routing between substack and me, there is a presumption of full anonymity for any submissions unless the person submitting explicitly consents to details of their problem being shared, or have the names or circumstances changed.
This isn’t a gossip column. We’ve got better things to do with these inches. Lets learn together.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for your contributions. This will be a fun experiment!
